Set in Agia Sofia on the north west side of Mykonos, Villa Rainbow looks out over Tourlos Gulf towards the sea and the sunset. It forms part of a small complex and pairs traditional Myconian whitewashed architecture with a modern, understated interior. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms are arranged over more than one level, so it is worth deciding who sleeps where when you plan the trip.
The layout has been deliberately shaped to shelter the outdoor space from the meltemi, the strong north wind Mykonos is known for, which makes long afternoons and evenings outside far more comfortable. The ground floor holds an open plan sitting, dining and kitchen area, relaxed enough that children can eat dinner with a film on while the adults drift outside.
There, a shaded lounge and a generous dining table sit alongside the BBQ and a private outdoor jacuzzi, which is where most evenings tend to end up. Mykonos town is a few minutes away, as are some of the island's best known beaches, restaurants and clubs, Scorpios and Nammos among them.
A good choice for families who want quiet as a base and everything else within easy reach.
