Paphos

There’s one thing that you’re going to notice as soon as you arrive in Paros, and that’s the whitewashed villages, the fishing boats that line the harbours, and the way the island still holds onto its rich traditions while offering its visitors plenty to explore. Staying in Paros villas puts you right in the middle of it all, with lots of space to enjoy the island properly from your own home base.

The island has a long history that still helps shape what you see today. Paros was once known for its high-quality marble that has been used in famous sculptures, and you can still visit parts of the ancient quarries where this stone is from. Beyond that, there’s a unique mix of lively towns, quieter beaches and scenic coastal roads, making it perfect no matter what your vacation style is.

Many of the villas in Paros are in prime locations for you to take in the sweeping seaside views, and having your own space (especially one with a private pool or jacuzzi) makes it really easy to enjoy it all in maximum comfort. This gorgeous vacation spot works just as well for a relaxed family vacation, a trip with a large group, or a romantic escape for couples, especially if you’re after a beachfront villa with a touch of luxury.

Explore Bnbstay’s handpicked Paros stays and get ready for the vacation of a lifetime.

Ayia Napa / Protaras

Ayia Napa and Protaras sit at the eastern tip of Cyprus and share the best beaches on the island — shallow, sandy, and with water that is extraordinarily clear even by Mediterranean standards. The two resorts have different personalities: Ayia Napa has historically been associated with clubbing and a younger crowd, though it has diversified significantly and now attracts families and couples alongside the party contingent. Protaras, 10km north, is quieter and more family-oriented, with Fig Tree Bay consistently rated among the best beaches in Europe.

Beaches Fig Tree Bay in Protaras is the standout — pale sand, shallow calm water, excellent facilities, and the kind of turquoise colour that looks artificially enhanced in photographs but isn't. Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa is livelier, with beach bars and water sports. Cape Greco between the two resorts is a protected national park with sea caves accessible by boat and some of the clearest water in Cyprus.

Things to Do Visit Cape Greco for the sea caves and the snorkelling — the water visibility here is remarkable. The Thalassa Municipal Museum of the Sea in Ayia Napa has an unexpectedly good collection including a replica of an ancient Greek merchant ship. Drive north towards Famagusta for the ghost town of Varosha, partially reopened in recent years after decades of closure — one of the most surreal sights in the Mediterranean.

Food & Drink Protaras has a good range of restaurants along the seafront with fresh fish and proper Cypriot cooking. Ayia Napa's food scene has improved significantly. For the best meze, look for the family-run tavernas away from the main strip.

When to Go May through October. The sea in this part of Cyprus is consistently warm from June onwards and often swimmable until November. July and August are peak season — June and September are better value with smaller crowds.

Aphrodite Hills

Aphrodite Hills is a purpose-built resort complex on the cliffs above Kouklia, midway between Paphos and Limassol, and it operates at a different level to most of Cyprus — a proper five-star resort with golf, spa, fine dining, and villa accommodation set around a clifftop above the sea. It suits people who want the Cyprus sunshine with the infrastructure and service levels of a luxury resort, without giving anything up. The location above the cliffs is dramatic, the facilities are excellent, and Paphos is 20 minutes away for the archaeology and the town.

What's Here The resort has its own beach club accessible by buggy down the cliffs, two championship golf courses, a full spa, tennis courts, multiple restaurants, and a village square with shops and cafes. Villa accommodation within the resort ranges from two-bedroom properties to larger villas with private pools.

Beyond the Resort Aphrodite's Rock — the legendary birthplace of the goddess of love — is five minutes down the coast road. The ancient city of Kourion with its Roman theatre and cliff-edge mosaics is 20 minutes east towards Limassol. Paphos with its archaeological park, harbour and old town is 20 minutes west.

Food & Drink The resort restaurants cover the range from poolside casual to proper fine dining. For something more local, the villages of Kouklia and Pissouri nearby have traditional tavernas worth the short drive.

When to Go April through October. The resort is at its best in June and September when the weather is ideal and the golf courses are in peak condition. July and August are very hot but the resort's facilities handle the heat well.
