Why We Only Do Greece & Cyprus (And Why That's Better for You)
You've probably noticed something unusual about Bnbstay: we only work with villas in Greece and Cyprus.
No Spanish costas. No Italian countryside. No French Riviera.
Just two countries. And that's entirely deliberate.
The problem with "everywhere"
When a villa agency covers 40 destinations across 15 countries, here's what actually happens:
They can't visit every property. So they rely on photos from owners, descriptions written by property managers, and reviews that may or may not tell the full story.
They can't have local expertise everywhere. So when you ask "which beach is best for kids?" or "where should we eat that's not touristy?", you get generic Google answers, not insider knowledge.
They can't build relationships with property managers. So when something goes wrong — and eventually, something always does — you're dealing with a faceless support team reading from a script, not someone who knows the owner personally and can fix things fast.
What we do instead
We visit properties before listing them. Not just a quick photo op — we walk through every room, test the showers, check the pool, and ask the awkward questions about WiFi, neighbours, and whether that "10-minute drive to the beach" is realistic or optimistic.
We know the islands. We've stayed in Zakynthos in October when it's quiet, in Paphos during the summer chaos, in Santorini when the cruise ships arrive. We know which beaches get crowded by 10am, which tavernas the locals actually eat at, and which "sea view" really means "if you stand on the balcony and crane your neck left."
We work with property managers we trust. Because we're not trying to list 5,000 villas, we can afford to be selective. If a property manager doesn't respond quickly, doesn't keep villas maintained, or oversells amenities, we don't work with them. Simple.
What this means for you
When you enquire about a villa through Bnbstay, you're talking to someone who's either been there or knows the person who manages it. We can tell you if the villa is genuinely private or if there's a road nearby. We can recommend where to eat within walking distance. We can tell you if the pool gets sun all day or if it's shaded by 4pm.
And when you're on holiday and something goes wrong — the WiFi isn't working, the dishwasher breaks, you need a cot delivered — we can call the property manager directly and get it sorted, usually within an hour.
That's the advantage of focus. We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're trying to be excellent at Greece and Cyprus.
