Must-Do Moments in Corfu You’ll Want to Plan Around
- Wander through Corfu Old Town, where Venetian architecture, narrow streets and hidden squares give it a completely different feel compared to the other Greek islands.
- Spend a day at Porto Timoni Beach, a double bay with crystal-clear water and a short walk that’s definitely worth the effort.
- Take a drive along the north-east coast of Corfu, and stop in villages like Kassiopi for a relaxed lunch and some of the most beautiful scenic harbour views.
- Visit Paleokastritsa and take in its dramatic coastline, turquoise water and small coves that are tucked between cliffs.
- Head up to Mount Pantokrator for the panoramic views across the island, where you can even see across to Albania on a clear day.

Corfu’s food has a slightly different feel thanks to its Venetian influence. You’ll come across dishes like sofrito (slow-cooked beef in white wine and garlic), pastitsada (rich tomato-based meat stew with spices), and plenty of fresh seafood.

Corfu Transportation
Direct flights
There are direct flights to Corfu from several UK airports, with airlines like Jet2, TUI, easyJet and British Airways providing regular routes. The flight time is around three hours.

You can also travel via Athens, either by a short domestic flight or by ferry, although flying is usually the quicker option. Ferries also connect Corfu to mainland Greece and the nearby Ionian islands.
Hire a car
Once you’re on the island, hiring a car is definitely the easiest way to explore. Corfu’s landscape is varied, and having your own transport makes it much easier to reach some of the smaller beaches and inland villages. Buses run between the main towns, but the services are much more limited in the quieter areas.
