The most dramatic pool in the photographs is not automatically the most useful one. Start with when you want to swim, who will use it and the detail that would make you rule a villa in or out.

What to check before choosing a private-pool villa

A broad label cannot tell you whether a particular pool works for a toddler, a confident swimmer, someone with limited mobility or a group with different priorities. The useful questions are specific.

  • Is the pool for this villa only, or shared with another property?
  • Can it be heated for your dates, and is heating included or charged separately?
  • Are current dimensions, depths and access steps recorded?
  • Are there gates, barriers or doors opening directly onto the terrace?
  • Is the pool overlooked if visual privacy matters to your party?
  • Are there seasonal operating or maintenance conditions?

Does a private pool mean the terrace is secluded?

Not necessarily. Private use and visual privacy are different. Check the villa photography and location notes, and ask us to confirm the level of overlooking if seclusion matters to your stay.

Is pool heating included in the villa price?

It varies by villa. Heating may be included, charged separately or unavailable for some dates. Check the villa details for operating dates, notice, temperature guidance and any charge.

Are all private pools fenced or gated?

No. Private use does not prove that a pool has a fence or gate. Where a barrier has been reviewed, it should appear on the villa page.

Can I check the pool dimensions and depth?

Current measurements should appear when they have been supplied and reviewed. If a measurement is essential and missing, ask us to confirm it before booking.

Are private pools available all year?
